'I don't need you. I have the internet.'
Sums up my life quite nicely.
I slept early last night, at five in the afternoon and woke up at seven. It was a compilation of exhaustion. In just one day, I had to do makeup for a short play, present a critical analysis about Othello through a Feminist Perspective, prepare for exams and the Singapore trip, with only four hour sleeps every night. In all, a ten hour sleep was heaven.
The camera quality is not the best. I'm testing out how well my camera phone is since I'll be bringing it along to Singapore. My own camera is too big and bulky to bring (and it's not even a DSLR). So my Samsung will for now though.
Do you think I should bring my camera or perhaps my phone is good enough? I'd love to know your thoughts!
A weekend wishlist!...On a weekday. A Wednesday. Why? Because alliteration, that's why.
Wishlists aren't for me. I don't need a lot of things to live but my wishes are endless. Clothes, books, makeup. I can't count them all. I wish for many things but only need few.
That said, I lack many basic staples needed to make my wardrobe versatile. Since I'll be going off to Singapore next week on a school field trip, I decided that this is the best time to. Yes, I'll be visiting museums and going on workshops for most of the trip. But you should never underestimate the power of people like me. We will always find time to shop.
I do have a budget to keep to though. So to limit overspending, I decided to make a wishlist. Compile what clothes I need, than the clothes I want. That way I would make use of all the items bought than just one or two.
I doubt I'll go on an epic shopping spree and buy these all in one trip though. The last time I wanted to go on an epic shopping spree, my frugality got the best of me. Instead, I left with just a nice, cozy sweater with 'Pancakes & Milkshakes' written in cursive.
So what do you think is the best basic piece to have in a closet? I think a chambray shirt and a leather jacket, because they are so versatile and effortless. I'd love to know your thoughts!
Instagram is problematic even though it shouldn't be. I should focus on other problems like what should I study, or what books to read, or what shoes to buy. Compelling difficulties of daily life. But Instagram has been aggravating me for months now and not for the reason that it should.
Instagram profiles. Yes, shoot me in the face for having such a distraught dilemma that I must make a post about it.
I have two Instagram accounts, heybash and bashharry. heybash is my private account I've had since the end of 2012 and bashharry, my public makeup account that I started last year. heybash was where I would post personal pictures of my life. bashharry was suppose to my makeup account where I promote my blog, showed makeup and become a platform.
Though in theory, it could've been helpful to separate work from life. As time progressed, I realized how similar both had become and how tedious it was. I don't post personal photos often. The last photo was of the Flower Child look taken over two weeks ago (using my camera which annihilates the point of a personal photo). Nor do I post makeup looks often. Studies come first and I don't have the capacity to wear makeup every week. So now, I'm left with two accounts, near identical that I have no idea what to do with.
A silly, stupid predicament that I'm stuck in. I don't know if I should just remove my private account, but has my friends' account. Make it public instead but leave the other one irrelevant. Figure out a compromise else I'll rip out all my hair out.
Or maybe this is just an excuse for my subconscious mind to think of something else other than my upcoming exams.
So do you have any tips? Helpful thoughts on the matter? Or perhaps I'm just thinking too much into it. I tend to do that.
“You can be noble and brave and beautiful and still find yourself falling.” - Ava Dellaira
Rating : 4/5
Love Letters to the Dead by Ava Dellaira is emotionally manipulative, depressingly optimistic and makes my nose sniffle snot.
I can see why they are people who love this book, and why they are people who hate it. What it boils down to is how far you would accept the writing style and how passive and inactive the main character is. If you are able to accept that, then you will be fine with this book.
So I celebrated my one year blog anniversary last week with a wonderfully long snooze and a big glass of a non-alcoholic beverage. Feeling nostalgic, I decided to read my old blog posts from last year. It was a decision I regretted almost immediately. My lips pursed with contempt as I continued reading my cringe-worthy content.
After a night of oh-so-sad lament, I thought of what I should have done instead. What I would say to Past-Me who has never blogged before on how to improve her blog. Short Answer: Many, many, many things. But these are my top five.
Here are some things I wish I knew when I began blogging.
On 10th April 2014, I uploaded my first blog post. An introduction, too long, too boring and too cringe-worthy for me to be proud of. Nevertheless, it remains a starting point of my blogger life. Bash Says Hey is officially one years old.
The question is, 'What the hell have I been doing?'
I don't think I started blogging consistently until this year. It was only earlier this February did I learn the power of communication, good photography and a clean format. While I have yet to be an expert in these areas, it's helped quite a lot to make my blogging experience so much fun.
It's a celebration though! I read somewhere that most bloggers quit within the first six months. I think I wanted to quit within the first six months but trudged on. I didn't see the point of blogging anymore until much later. But that's another story.
Right now, I want to say thank you to everyone who came across my blog, read it and hopefully enjoyed it. You make blogging worthwhile. Still, they are a few people I'd like to single out because they are extraordinary.
So Thank You...
