I've been blogging for almost 5 years.
Making YouTube videos for over four. It's a strange experience, to say the least. I make videos sporadically - not enough to be good yet and few to be ever successful. While most of my content has been beauty-related, I've gradually made fewer. Specifically, fewer makeup tutorials and reviews.
Why?
Do you still watch makeup videos?

I've been Bullet Journaling for about two months now.
Methodological? Maybe.
Helpful? Very.
I spent two hours setting up the first few pages of the journal because I wanted to get it just right. Even though there are no such things. Other than that, I still spend at least 15 minutes a day (sometimes more) updating it for the next few days, or just doodling for fun. Not everyone has time for that.
If you're like me, you like going all out. Once I decided to try bullet journaling, I shipped a Leuchtturm 1917 Dotted Notebook from Amazon UK to my sister then asked her to buy double-ended highlighters to match my paints. This is too much of a hassle for journaling. But that's on me.
It's going to be messy and you have to accept that. There are ink stains, bad drawings, and notes scattered everywhere. None of my Monthly pages look similar at all. A part of me is screaming inside cause I want to look perfect. The other part knows it will never be.
But honestly, it mostly inspires me.
And it's fantastic.
My bullet journal is filled with pages upon pages of my 2020 so far. From my time in Sri Lanka to work as a host, it's a nice way to log life as it goes on. And as someone who loves talking about things she's obsessed with, I've compiled some reasons why you should (and should not) start a bullet journal.
Here are my Pros & Cons of Bullet Journaling.
PROS:
1. Organized & Structured
I like that it's organized cause it helps me feel like I'm organized. The pages are where they are supposed to be, titled and notated for future reference. To go even further, I color-coded everything so my eyes are trained.Methodological? Maybe.
Helpful? Very.
2. Customizable & Open for Creativity
As someone who isn't as creative as she wants to be, I consider my bullet journal controlled creativity. I get to draw, color in and add doodles wherever I please. Not only that, how the journal will look like is completely up to me. Something I personally dislike about regular planners is how rigid there are.3. One Place For Everything
It's my place for (almost) everything. This bullet journal is for my notes, plans, ideas, and acts as an occasional moody diary. It keeps everything where it is. I don't have to look through multiple notebooks anymore. Thank God.4. Consistent Writing
It's helped me write daily. When I'm out, I carry it in my bag for the times I'm waiting or a bit bored. I write what's on my mind, or ideas I've been itching to explain. Sometimes it's poetry or potential scripts. Other times, it's just stuff I saw and really want.
5. It Is For Me & Only Me
And just how it should be.CONS:
1. Time-Consuming
I spent two hours setting up the first few pages of the journal because I wanted to get it just right. Even though there are no such things. Other than that, I still spend at least 15 minutes a day (sometimes more) updating it for the next few days, or just doodling for fun. Not everyone has time for that.
2. Expensive & Hard to Get
In theory, it's cheap. All you need is a pen and a blank book. But...If you're like me, you like going all out. Once I decided to try bullet journaling, I shipped a Leuchtturm 1917 Dotted Notebook from Amazon UK to my sister then asked her to buy double-ended highlighters to match my paints. This is too much of a hassle for journaling. But that's on me.
3. Not for a Perfectionist (Me Included)
It's going to be messy and you have to accept that. There are ink stains, bad drawings, and notes scattered everywhere. None of my Monthly pages look similar at all. A part of me is screaming inside cause I want to look perfect. The other part knows it will never be.
4. Comparisons to Others
If you've seen #BuJo on Instagram then you will immediately think your journal is crap. I certainly did. I don't have decent handwriting or any artistry skills. Other than tapping on a keyboard, my hands are useless. So seeing all the amazing journals lets you down sometimes. But honestly, it mostly inspires me.
Would you ever try Bullet Journaling?

It was quite literally, just one afternoon in Saigon.
Apart from the long commute from the airport to Zone 1, we did manage to visit some sights!
OUR 1 DAY ITINERARY
- Saigon Central Post Office
- Notre Dame Cathedral
- Ho Chi Minh City Hall
- Cafe Apartments
Saigon is split into districts, and so most of our itinerary landed us in District 1 since it's the city center. We managed to see most places in District 1, everything was in walking distance. If we had more time, maybe in the morning or another day, we could have gone to other places but here's what we managed.
SAIGON CENTRAL POST OFFICE
One of the most iconic tourist destinations in Ho Chi Minh City, it's actually a functioning post office to my surprise.
With beautiful colonial architecture and ornate decorations, it felt like I was back in Europe. Inside though are regular people sending letters, the tourists and merchants selling trinkets and souvenirs to said-tourists. I didn't manage to get some, unfortunately. Only some photos.

NOTRE DAME CATHEDRAL
There is a surprising amount of French Colonial Architecture here in the city, like the Notre Dame Cathedral. And like the Notre Dame in France, it was closed for construction. Oh well.
Tall at 60 meters, the stained glass windows and all-red brick were imported from Marseille. It is still a functioning church with a Virgin Mary statue right in front. It's one of the few strongholds of catholicism in a largely Buddhist Vietnam.

HO CHI MINH CITY HALL
It was closed by the time we arrived by 5.
A pastel yellow fixture that oversaw the long walk. The city hall is one of the most iconic and well-preserved landmarks in Vietnam, with a statue of Ho Chi Minh in front of the main building. I wish I could have gone inside but I'll settle for next time.
CAFE APARTMENTS
It is what it is. A stack of cafes and shops in an apartment block.
I've never seen anything as cool and eclectic as this. We trudged up the stairs to see different shops as there are no layouts for the floors. It's the fun kind of maze, finding little treasures on your adventure. We found ourselves at a small bakery to rest before we went back to the airport.

Photos by
The one place I wished we did got to was Ben Thanh Market but it had closed early, and the night market opened later. We didn't have enough time to visit and make it back to the airport on time.
Still, Vietnam left me a sweet taste and a longing to go back. Only time will tell when.

Primark has a makeup collection.
I pass it every single time I'm in a Primark, always tempted to purchase but never do. Until today. When I stormed into my local Primark and found their latest Nudes Collection. The cashier looked impressed, and perhaps even shocked, with my bag.
So it begs the question, how is Primark makeup?
So it begs the question, how is Primark makeup?

While I wish I could have purchased everything instore, I only got a handful from each section. Hopefully, enough of a range to encapsule the whole collection.
Primark Nudes Collection launched in February 2018, packaged in neutrals with a focus on natural brown and pink hues. Certain products remind me of KKW Beauty and Milk Makeup. You can definitely tell their collection is lower cost version of those expensive 'natural & nude' brands.
HIGHLIGHTERS & BLUSH & CONTOUR
NUDES HIGHLIGHT & CONTOUR KIT :
This kit is most reminiscent of KKW Beauty Sticks. It came with a Highlighter Duo Stick, a Contour Duo Stick, Brow Highlighter and a double-ended brush and sponge.
The Highlighter Duo Stick was not universal. One end was too dark for me. The other end matched my exact skin tone with some shimmer. The Contour Duo Stick was surprising. I used both ends on my skin because it ended up blending lighter than I expected. Applies dark, but blends most colour away.
In this collection, I prefer the brush since it blended the contour evenly and feels soft against the skin, blending well.
NUDES HIGHLIGHTER STICK :
It looks like an almost exact dupe for Milk Makeup. It swatched beautiful, a light nude with a pink glittery sheen. However, it clung to the skin, making it difficult to blend out.
NUDES BODY SHIMMER DUST :
Perhaps my favourite, simply because it surprised me. An off-white shimmery loose powder. If pressed, I'd use it as my everyday highlight but if applied on darker skin, it would wash them out.
NUDES CONTOUR PALETTE :
Consists of two highlighters, a contour, and blush. An overall okay palette, their highlighters (Polar and Pure) aren't blinding. Instead, they give a subtle glow to the skin. The contour (Reveal) looked dark on the pan but once applied, blended to a warm bronze shade. I think the winner is their blush (Exposed) that gave a nice pink flush.
EYES
NUDES MATTE EYE CREAM in WHIPPED :
I applied the Matte Eye Cream as a base for the eyeshadow palette. What I assumed would be off-white looked grey against my skin. It was creamy but once blended, dried down to a matte finish. I wouldn't reccommended it since the grey cast was prominent.

NUDES EYESHADOW COLLECTION PALETTE :
This looks like it came from a child's toy makeup collection with cheap, breakable packaging. That said, I am dumbfounded by their eyeshadows. They consist of 28 shades for £8, making it 28p per shade. And the strangest part?
They're actually good.
I used different shades from the palette, each time impressed with the colour pay off and how it blended together. And for 28p a shade, what a steal.

LIPS
NUDES MATTE & GLOSS LIP COLLECTION :
Their Matte & Gloss Lip Collection consists of two glosses and mattes. The mattes and glosses were pigmented, with one swipe enough for the full efect. While the mattes did dry down, they didn't dry out my lips which impressed me. The glosses were fine on their own, but I prefered them as toppers to other lipsticks.
NUDES HIGH SHINE LIP GLOSS in MESMERIZE :
A £2 product feeling like a £6. Their lip liner and gloss reminded me of NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream, with their smell and application. Though High Shine Lip Gloss is (obviously) a gloss. It pulled pinker than I assumed from the packaging. It still applied smoothly and wore on for some time.

Overall, I am impressed with this collection.
Their eyeshadows and lipsticks, being the most note-worthy. For the price, they work much better than what I expected. As for their highlighters and contours, I prefered their pressed powders since their cream kits aren't universal.
If you're still learning makeup and looking for some quality products in your Primark, pick up the Nudes. They get a thumbs up from me.

I don't think I'm a poet.
An occasionally poetic writer maybe, but hardly a poet. I can't construct poems on a whim, written with such depth for the world to see. No, I write prose like I write in my non-existent diary. Floral, emotional and probably fictional.
But somehow, in 2017, I auditioned for the University of Exeter Team for UniSlam 2018. And I got it. Here's a snippet of the adventure.
have you ever been to a poetry slam?

A Law Q&A from actual law students.
As Term 1 winds down, my friend and I sat down to answer some questions I received from Instagram. This is my third Q&A up on my channel. This time around, there is a good reason. It can be considered educational since it is a Law School Q&A.
Enjoy!
A big thanks to my friend Sam Boughton for joining me in this Q&A. He's seen me break down in the library, I've seen him knock a bottle before an exam. It's a great friendship based on mutual hatred of law school.
You can follow him on Instagram here.
Would you like more Q&A like these?
So I did it.
I made a video everyday in August, creating 23 videos this month alone. Apart from the one day I missed due to laziness, I managed to fill the weekdays with a video. Exhausting, exciting and fulfilling. I will never do this again.
Instead of telling why you should(n't) do VEDA, I wanted to dedicate a post for my favourite vides in the month. Though 23 videos are a lot, 5 stood out.
So here is a recap of my favourite videos I made in August!

So here is a recap of my favourite videos I made in August!
I wrote a blog post for this video a few weeks ago. This was my first Spoken Word video in over a year, and second overall.
This spoken word was originally meant to be a blog post, similar to So This Isn't Love and Hate to See Your Heart Break. After some months of writing and editing, I decided it was better as a spoken word. Kaleidoscope's HUMAN exhibit seemed like a good time to perform it.
I've been listening to 'Wake Me' by Bleachers for over three months.
The song was stuck in my head. The soft crescendo, and wild beats keep me company during those late nights. Since planning my videos for VEDA, I decided to film a mini-music video for the song. I roped in Faiz AR to help film it.
The video came out wonderfully, thanks mainly to his great editing skills and patience for my constant nagging. Go check it out!
I managed to film and upload for VEDA while I was on holiday. Surprising to say the least.
Much to my cousins' dismay, I filmed the trip. I took snippets from the day with my iPhone. Capturing little stories and walks throughout the week. I would compile them into a folder in my laptop, and proceeded to edit the Travel With Me later that night.
An effective way to edit, one I never mastered for the rest of these videos.
It wouldn't be me unless I post an obligatory emotionally-driven post on my birthday.
While I usually write a blog post like when I turned 19 and another at 18, since I was filming VEDA, I decided to make a video instead. Perhaps I shouldn't.This may be one of my most personal videos, touching upon growing up and losing yourself in the process. Or maybe not.
Enjoy my mental breakdown.

The cast of Relentless' Shrek The Musical joined me in the car. More like I joined them with a camera.
Gathering a bunch of musical nerds in a car leads to the most fun I've had in weeks. Singing along to the likes of Ed Sheeran, Michael Jackson and Shrek The Musical! It was also my first video I worked with two camera, and perhaps an unideal road. Regardless, I hope you enjoy and go watch Shrek The Musical at JIS Arts Center on 16th - 17th September.

So that was my August.
VEDA has taught me a few things. Particularly about balancing work, life and uploading. And to take advantage of cafes' free wifi. Will I do it again? Maybe next year but definitely not in the near future.

"I am nineteen. You are twenty-one."
It starts like every other story. A boy meets a girl. They are young, careless and free. Just how they should be. Smiles exchanged, and a feeling growing. It wasn't love. No, not yet but it was something. Something they wanted.
It ends the way it shouldn't. A boy meets another girl. A girl becomes bitter. A girl writes a piece. And expresses it through an Open Mic Night a year later.
Whoops.

I've worked with Kaleidoscope Studio before, all the way in 2015 for Shocktober. When I heard they were hosting an Open Mic night, I was compelled. I registered as a performer, and proceeded to freak out. I shouldn't have done this.
I had written a few pieces but I haven't been onstage for almost two years. It's been a while since I've had an audience that wasn't watching me through a screen. I will admit, my tongue no longer spits out words, rather rusty and stutters often.
That didn't stop me from filming it though.
That didn't stop me from filming it though.
More than anything else, it was a cathartic release. I forgot how much I enjoy being on stage. There is a comfort to speaking in public, unabashed and unafraid. Perhaps you need a bit of bitterness in your heart, and a kinder audience to watch.
Yet when you start speaking, all you can do is enjoy yourself.
I hope you enjoy.

"Video Everyday in August."
Easy, right?
I hope so or else, I am definitely overextending myself this month. Because I'm going to try to film a video everyday in August. Easier said than done. Pushing out ideas monthly is hard enough for one person.
So I need your help.
So I need your help.

My favourite creators have done VEDA of sorts, once a year. Because imitation is the best form of flattery, I decided to do it as well. I waited until August, it seemed like the most appropriate time. Summer break, a few events to blog, and perhaps when I feel the most creative.
I will be posting Monday through Friday, every weekday rather than everyday for my own sanity. I will stick blog every Monday and Thursday. VEDA is a way for me to express through videography, and explore other creatives.
Though, I don't think I can do this all by myself.

This is where you come in.
Please leave your video ideas, and questions down below! I will film a video as answer, and hopefully, we can start a conversation. I was so happy to see the response from Monolingual Malay, and want to see more like it.
I'm excited! Are you?

with love,
My niece, Adriana, came up to me one day.
She asked me if I was available on Tuesday, at 2 o'clock. I nodded and said yes. Her smile grew wider, eyes lighting. "Good, cause we're gonna film me doing your makeup."
Oh no.
She did much better than her uncle. That's for sure.
I hope Adriana enjoyed it. She claims she wants to be a Youtuber when she grows up. I thought this would dissuade her, but clearly, she is more set than ever. Oh well.
Would you let a kid do your makeup?
I'm either going to be proud or regret this entirely.
I guess we'll have to see.
I recently got a comment by a girl from the 'Worst Malay Q&A' video. She stated Bruneians 'need to uphold English on a pedestal' and to 'enjoy being monolingual.' While I think she may have misinterpreted the video, the comment itself did raise some questions. At least to me.
Why did it affect me so much? Was it because its true? Or was it because I heard these statements all my life?
An overwhelming feeling to answer these questions arose. So I did.
"You're so whitewashed."
"Westernised."
"White girl."
It's strange to feel alienated by your own culture. I've felt alienated since I was a little girl, and I've accepted it since I was a little girl. A little girl shouldn't accept alienation, a little girl shouldn't be alienated in the first place.

I do not speak Malay as eloquently as I wish I did. People laugh, and people joke, and I poke fun of myself for it. I see the irony and accept it, and perhaps, some don't. That's fine. What is not fine is excluding us because of the irony.
Regardless of language, I am still Malay. I was raised Malay, I identify as Malay. I am Malay.
YOUTUBE CHANNEL
Do you think language is an important part of culture?
I made a video because it was easier to express it there.
It's a interesting topic I wish we would discuss more. Our thoughts on cultural identity and its significance to us. For me, cultural identity is knowing where I come from, and who I am. To others, it could be something entirely. Perhaps including language.
It has been a week of Eid and I am exhausted.
I went out for the past week. Dressed up to the nines and makeup slathered on my face. At the start, I put on my best lashes and lined my lips with precious. By the end, I wore glasses to hide the lack of concealer and foundation. So by Sunday night, I was exhausted but relieved.
So I switched on my camera and filmed a video. Here are Reasons Why I Love Eid.
So what are your favourite things about Eid?
