I really did.

After all, ColourPop is praised like a demigod of the beauty pantheon. For their price. For their shades. For their difficulty to purchase, outside the US. When I received these lipsticks, excitement overcame me. I wore a ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip everyday to see if it was worth the price paid.

So were they worth it?

Well...

I purchased these liquid lipsticks in my last American Makeup HaulColourPop Ultra Matte Lip retails for only B$8 (US$6) with 3ml (0.11oz) of product. I will be reviewing the lighter 'nude' colours first. Bianca, Beeper, Stingraye, Teeny-Tiny & Bumble.

What is great about ColourPop is its price range. Perfect for broke folks like me who want various shades to choose from. However, they are difficult to purchase in South East Asia, with expensive international shipping. So perhaps not the best for broke international folks. Like me.

The lipsticks themselves are exceptionally pigmented. One swipe will cover the lips. That can't be denied. ColourPop's lipsticks are consistently thick, opaque and watery. However, that is where the similarities stop.

Fun fact; Bianca is also a character from Shakespeare's Othello. Whom I like to call 'Beee-uuuuung-kah.'

This cool-toned mauve pink shade does not suit me. I find it washes me out, making me look more dull than usual. Which is unfortunate because the formula is great. It doesn't fade nor crumble, even after eating. In addition, it was the only lipstick among the nudes that didn't darken once dry.

Beeper is not the worst out of the collection. Which should not be a compliment in itself.

It oxidises into a muted brown with pink undertones despite looking lighter in the tube. Despite that, Beeper is a comfortable but still drying lipstick. It tightens the lips but not too the extent of cracking. It fades after a few hours but overall, not terrible.

This is ItsMyRayeRaye's Stingraye.

Though different in the tube, Stingraye and Teeny-Tiny are similar in colour. Stingraye, being just a hair lighter. Like other lipsticks in the colour, Stingraye oxidised. What was suppose to be a cool-toned mauve brown became a light purple-grey. Thankfully, not as dry as Teeny-Tiny but still a disappointing lipstick.

What I thought would be a light mauve oxidised into a disappointing mess.

Teeny-Tiny ended up being a deep greyed plum. Much much darker than expected in the tube. It was thick, opaque and consistent. All the makings of a good liquid lipstick. However, it also had the makings of a terrible liquid lipstick. Incredibly drying, cracking, tight around the lips. Oh no.

My favourite lipstick among the collection. So good but for the wrong reasons.

Bumble is supposed to be a dusty terracotta but the lipstick I received was much different. It ended up oxidising into a muted orange-red with a warm undertone. Despite it's vastly different colour, I enjoyed the lip colour and found the wear-time to be significantly longer. Among the 'nude' lipsticks, Bumble is the most comfortable.

I don't think I could recommend the Ultra Matte collection. At least the 'nudes' I purchased.

The only ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip shades I would recommend are BEEPER BUMBLE. But even they oxidise and vary in colour. Despite it's cheap price tag, ColourPop is difficult to purchase in Brunei and found the ColourPop formula to wildly vary. Most lipsticks oxidise, some crack and crumble, and very few were good.

Hence why I had to give separate ratings.

In all honesty, these liquid lipsticks are worth the cheap price tag and nothing more. Because that is what they are. Cheap.

So what do you think of ColourPop Ultra Matte Lips?
