And most likely, you will be wearing makeup. A lot of it.

By the start, we pamper ourselves with expensive looks, with great flicked liner and contour sharp. It won't last. By the end of the day, mascaras will smudge and lipsticks will fade. An unfortunate, inevitable occurrence. However, there are some ways to minimise the outcome with just a few extra steps.

Here are some Tips & Tricks to Keep Your Makeup Lasting Longer!

Ignore the Doctor Who reference but Cassandra was right.

Moisturizing your skin is a crucial part in skincare and makeup application. Hydrated skin gives a smoother base before application. Even if you have oily skin, I still recommend using a moisturizer then remove excess with Oil Absorbing Sheets.

Right now I'm using Clean & Clear Simple Moisturizer. Apply it all over the face then leave it on for about 10 minutes. It should settle into the skin. Afterwards, I mist my face with Bio-Essence Miracle Bio Water for extra hydration.

     |   PREP & PRIME

When going out for more than six hours, I consider primer a necessity. Its general use is to create barrier between makeup and skin, and to make your face last.

For my primers, I often use NARS Light Optimizing Primer because it has gold flecks that brightens my otherwise dull skin. Another great primer is Benefit Pore-fessional Primer, hiding pores and keeping the face matte. Both primers leave the skin a little tacky to apply the foundation easier.

This applies to eye primers as well. This is also to keep the eyeshadows from creasing. MAC Soft Ochre Paint Pot is my go-to Eyeshadow Base but a cheaper alternative is Essence I Heart Stage Eyeshadow Base.

     |   USE LONG-LASTING PRODUCTS

No sh*t, Sherlock.

Use the best products you own. 'Waterproof' and 'Sweatproof' products should suit you and work for you. From eyeliners to foundations to mascara, find products that work for you. Which is easier said than done.

It's trial and error. Learning through your own experience. While Too Faced Born This Way is a great foundation, it will melt under the sun. So I reach for Urban Decay Naked Skin instead. High-End mascaras like Benefit They're Real! Mascara and Estee Lauder Double Wear Waterproof Mascara seem to have more longevity than drugstore products.

As I said, it's all about trial and error.

     |   SET YOUR FACE

Once your full face is applied, lipsticks smacked and highlight shining, you will need to set it. Think hairspray for your face.

A final touch to keep your makeup together for hours.

For oily skin, apply a light dusting of setting powder over the T-Zone and anywhere else your skin gets oily. I like to spray MAC Fix+ over my face then set Urban Decay All-Nighter Setting Spray. A cheaper alternative I've used is NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray or Bio-Essence Miracle Bio Water.

     |   NO TOUCHY-TOUCHY

Don't touch your face.

It's a horrible habit I have. Picking my lashes and squeezing my brow hairs. Not only does this disturb your makeup, bacteria from your hands will make contact with face. A cause for acne and pimples.

So don't touch your face.

If you find yourself trickling down with sweat, pat a tissue then re-apply your setting powder.

     |   CARRY ESSENTIALS

I carry a small pouch when I go out. Filled with little life-savers like Q-Tips and a pack of tissues.

In addition, I bring a hydration spray like Bio-Essence Miracle Bio Water or NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray and Lipstick/Lip Balm. I also carry a translucent compact powder, like Essence All About Matt! Powder if I get too shiny

If I'm wearing false lashes, and they start to peel off during the day, I bring the case and a felt-tip liner. I will just remove the lashes and fill any sparse lines with eyeliner.

Not as hard as it sounds.

Just a few light touches here and there. We should always take a few precautions just to keep our makeup looking fresh and fine throughout. None of these are 100% effective but they are helpful to achieve a long-lasting face.

So how do make your makeup last?
