Unfortunately.

Everything shades itself in dull grey than pitch black or pure white. Thoughts are complicated, tangled in a circumscribe mind. Our black and white ideas battles itself into a quiver of clouds left unsatisfied. So we end our thoughts with half-ended summaries to explain.

This realization unfolded when my package from NewChic* arrived. And reminded me why life is so grey.

NewChic contacted me early this year to provide a review for their products. Curious with their sudden explosion into the online shopping scene, I googled them. As any sane person would do. A relatively new company, founded in 2015, that aims to 'offer the best products with our best service and support.'

Yeah, sure. Let's see how that goes.

With these beautiful Black Platform Boots* and a White Long-Sleeved Maxi Dress* in my cart, I sent out my order. Which took almost two months to arrive. Not as bad as Sammy Dress but still. With the long waiting period, and disappointing dalliances with other online stores, I expected the products to be haphazardly. Set with the grim thought that these products would be thrown away after two uses.

I was only half-right.

The platform boots arrived first, then the dress a few weeks later. I ripped the boots out of its plastic cage in the car, then screamed into my mother's ear. They were Jeffrey Campbell dupes that I longed for since I was a mere babe. Hyperbolic-speaking. Well-made and sturdy, despite the plastic heel. It exceeded my expectations.

The dress, however, met my low expectations. Made with cheap translucent fabric, that wrinkles no matter how often ironed, steamed and pressed. Threads hanged at odd places and the belt that came with it proved to be flimsy and stained.

Oh, it's Sammy Dress all over again.

I love the boots but not the dress, which brings me to why my recommendation is clouded.

In general, I am satisfied with the pieces but not necessarily with NewChic. There are many stores like Newchic, tantamount to each other. With the same pieces with the same prices at the same shipping rates. NewChic is not unique.

If you do want to buy from NewChic, then go ahead. Just be wary.
