Life | Five Things in March 03

M A R C H   W A S   N O T   A   B A D   M O N T H

Though I am unsure whether to call it good either.

Bittersweet is appropriate. Though lacks the emotional depth needed to relay March's blissful sorrow. I sit here in a cafe, trying to find words to describe March. March in all its melancholy. I could not describe March in just five moments.

But I tried.

Batman v. Superman | A Critical Analysis on Superheroes & Religion

" T E L L   M E .   D O   Y O U   B L E E D ?
. . . Y O U   W I L L . "

I caught a sneak peek of Batman v. Superman late Wednesday night. Excitement rose with a Batman symbol embroidered across my chest and heart on my sleeve. After nearly three hours in the dim theatre, I released my friend's hand as credits rolled. Staring at the black screen amidst the leaving audience, we sang praise.

Not for the film itself, but for all the analysis we whispered throughout it.

I'll keep my lips silent from an actual straightforward review. Rotten Tomatoes has got that covered. Instead, I want to focus on what excited me the most. Apart from Henry Cavill's chiseled face, Henry Cavill's sculpted physique and Henry Cavill in general.

Batman v. Superman might not be a great film but it is a great Christian allegory.

#UnfairandLovely | A Look on Colorism in Cultures

Three girls discuss the Unfair and Lovely Movement and colorism in our culture

A   C H I N E S E ,   M A L A Y   A N D   I N D I A N
W A L K   I N T O   A   C A F E . . .

And discuss the underlying racism of beauty standards through colorism. As we always do.

Meet Shwen, Bash and Rose. Loud girls sat around the booth, diverse in stories and opinions. Bonding over politics and social issues during lunch early in our school years. Instead of eating at the canteen, we argue. Whether it be how consensual 50 Shades' main relationship is to USA's political system. Social justice have made friends out of debaters.

Despite our love for aggressive discussion, we ignored a topic raised up often. Colour, skin colour for more accuracy. Being women of colour in whitewashed world, we never actually discussed colorism until now. The Unfair And Lovely Movement exploded and it gave me thought.

How dominant is colorism in our culture?

Everything shades itself in dull grey than pitch black or pure white. Thoughts are complicated, tangled in a circumscribe mind. Our black and white ideas battles itself into a quiver of clouds left unsatisfied. So we end our thoughts with half-ended summaries to explain.

This realization unfolded when my package from NewChic* arrived. And reminded me why life is so grey.

Makeup | Benefit They're Real! Sexy On The Run Mascara & Eyeliner Kit

Benefit They're Real Sexy On The Run Mascara & Eyeliner Kit Review

B E N E F I T   I S   B I T T E R S W E E T

I have various thoughts about Benefit. Because while I enjoy their products, I find them overrated.

Their products tend to be average in above-average clothing. Their packaging being their biggest selling point. It's sleek, fun and girlish with a playful twist. Attention-grabbing while said-product remains average. Not bad but not the best.

Perhaps that's why I got so excited when Benefit They're Real! Sexy On The Run Mascara & Eyeliner Kit arrived. A smirking lady, hiding all those secrets within her. All the best of Benefit in one box.

So how is it?

Brunei Islamic Fashion Week + Haul

Brunei Islamic Fashion Week ladies and men
I S L A M I C   F A S H I O N   I S   I N .

If my hijab-wearing photos don't tell you, I'm a Muslim. Shocking. And if you have read this blog for sometime, you might notice that I have evolved into somewhat of a fashion being. Shocking times two.

No longer am I wearing converse with graphics tees and Converse. Somehow, through this blog, I started wearing white shawls and heels. A dramatic transformation produced by the growing awareness of fashion industry.

The fashion industry in Brunei gained a resurgence. Particularly in the last year when people have become more style-conscious. Fashion will never go out of style. This trend required a unity.

Hence, Brunei Islamic Fashion Week (BIFASH) happened.

OOTD | Venetian with Sammydress

Brunei Blogger discusses Sammy Dress in review

I ' V E   A L W A Y S   W A N T E D   T O   B E   V E N E T I A N

A grand Venetian in love with art, and passion and wonder. Instead, I am Bruneian in love with the illusions of Venice. Though we may have the Venice of The East in our Water Village, I yearn Venice herself.

Sammy Dress* has helped me achieve that dream. To an extent. With this glorious skirt, it inspired me to fashion an outfit based on Venice. The skirt is perfect. Sammy Dress itself?
