I get annoyed when someone tells me I should wear natural makeup. As if no one should know I'm wearing makeup. That 'Natural' Beauty. Flawless skin, beautiful brows, luscious lips. 'Try to look more natural,' they tell me. Then they show me a picture of Kylie Jenner and I cackle and gag simultaneously.
That said, I do remember when I was just starting out. When I wanted to look natural, with simple, easy steps that wouldn't take eternity to finish. So here is for those who want just a natural look. Whether you're a beginner, or just finding an easy look...
Here is a makeup tutorial!
1 | Stare in horror for about seven seconds at your bare and moisturised face. You weren't born with fantastic skin and strong eyebrows that society thought you had. Wallow in this sad realization before moving on.
2 | Apply a foundation that matches your skin, like Essence All About Matt! Foundation in 10 Matt Beige. Blend it in with a sponge or a brush. Either one you choose, it should still look as if your skin has always been even. Like you've had sixteen hours of sleep for the past sixteen years..
3 | Using Essence Eyebrow Designer in 02 Dark Brown, fill in your brows. Follow the natural shape of your brow, even if you don't have any. Skip this step if you were born with perfect Cara Delevingne brows. Congratulations, we hate you.
4 | We're going straight to tightlining. Line your upper waterline with Essence Long Lasting Eye Pencil in 02 Hot Chocolate to create the illusion of wider eyes, and thicker lashes. Remember, we want to look as natural as possible. So avoid putting eyeliner where eyeliner should be.
5 | Add on NYX Lush Lashes Full Figured Mascara to your flimsy and weak lashes. Most of us aren't born with lash extensions, so just keep layering on. One or two coats of mascara is fine, seven is spidery.
6 | Apply a nude lipstick. I'm using Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick in Totally Toffee, a brown-pink shade. You can just skip lipstick and use a lip balm instead.
7 | If you want to have that natural glow, double your lipstick as a cream blush. Swipe the lipstick on your cheeks, and blend. Yay! It looks like you're not even wearing blush at all. So why bother doing it? Because society.
8 | You're done! No one can tell you're wearing makeup! You're now accepted into a society that expects you to wear makeup to look natural. Then shun you when it seems like you put too much effort in your appearance. Even if it makes you feel good.
Okay, I'm kidding. Ish.
This makeup is fine for those wanting a simple, natural look. But I don't like simple anymore, not when I can do better. Don't get me wrong, it's great for people who are starting out or want to natural. But I'm not that person anymore. I like my brows and my bold lipstick and my thick wings.
So what do you think? Do you like these tutorials and what others do you want to see? I'm always trying to incorporate beauty in this blog. I do have more planned out so if you'd like to see, then please follow me on Bloglovin'!
So what do you think of natural makeup?

Can we PLEASE TALK about how great a piece this is entirely? Forget the darn makeup tutorial; your satirical commentary on societal standards of beauty with sarcastic undertones (more like it being sarcasm completely, really) is absolutely brilliant. There is sadism ingrained and bitterness throughout, but your point is clear and your point is ACE; simplicity be damned, expectations be damned, I'll wear whatever the hell makeup I want.
ReplyDeleteGo you, Bash.
Also, please stop being so beautiful. That's not how society works, too.
Ha, Happy Sunday!

Ohh, I know what you mean, this was my go-to makeup all the way until year 2013 when I finally caved and dived head first into the beauty world. And holy cow, Kylie Jenner for natural? That whole family is as plastic as they come. Smdh.

Yes! Definitely more makeup tutorials! I think this is something I could definitely see myself wearing (bc it's so easy and mistakes seem like they'd not be as obvious), but I love seeing all the things you're capable of doing!
ReplyDeleteIt's always a little amusing when I hear people, guys mostly, say that you shouldn't wear makeup and "trick" people. We don't all have perfect skin and most do actually wear a little bit of makeup!

Hahahhahaha I love this so much! "Natural makeup" is so overrated--I always get mad when people tell me to wear less makeup! It's not like I wear makeup for anyone! :') But you look stunning either way--do whatever you want!

I actually "lol'ed" at the beginning of your post because I couldn't agree with you more. I constantly see vloggers uploading videos of their "no makeup makeup look" and their face is layered with makeup. I adore your look and could definitely see me using it on a daily basis. Thanks for sharing, xx

I laughed at the Kylie Jenner statement - she's admitted to fillers, how is that natural?! You look absolutely stunning :)

Best tutorial ever! I think a lot of people need to read this. I cracked up when I read “apply a foundation that MATCHES YOUR SKIN” because omg, a LOT of girls need to understand this. Your skin is pretty much perfect anyway but I love your makeup, I wish I had your skill.

The tutorial was hilarious to read! The look is so unlike the others I have seen on your blog but you look great anyway!
