Tuesday, 2 June 2015

Well, I am exhausted. Mentally, physically and emotionally drained from my body.

That's how I would describe May in a nutshell. Alright at the surface but hurting you inside. So I'm happy June has come along. A little calmness back into life. Exams are almost over and afterwards, I'll return to a bit of normalcy.

But till' that happens, here is an overview of my May.

Doing | Figuring out this ring light. I just bought one after a few long months of saving. It's freaking fantastic and I'm ecstatically excited. I still need to play around with it though. I won't be able to do anything spectacular like take good photos yet. On the plus side, I can finally take photos at night without worry.

Watching | I've been watching a lot of films lately since the end of my exams. I'll be watching a few soon, perhaps alone but here are some quick reviews. Pitch Perfect 2 was disappointing but adequate. Mad Max: Fury Road was the best testosterone-filled feminist movie ever. Spy was hilarious and stupid, but hilarious so you have to watch it.

Listening | This was a classic rock kind of month for me, blaring out songs my parents would have listened to when they were my age. Popular picks include Def Leppard's Pour Some Sugar On Me and Warrant's Cherry Pie. They are just perfect to dance to late at night at your desk alone when you're suppose to do homework.

Loving | I posted an article about feeling ugly on Ugly Days here and I'm still overwhelmed by how sweet and amazing everyone who commented has been. It was a personal post, to feel ugly for the past month isn't great for your well-being. So it warms my heart every time I read the post and the comments back. It's nice to know everyone feels this way once in a while.

Making | Hats! I've been knitting a lot of hats lately, some for me and some for friends. Their birthdays are coming up and I've been knitting up presents. They are easiest way for me to give a gift without spending money. I keep a few presents on hand just in case it's someone's birthday and I didn't have time to make anything.

Planning | Nothing. I plan on taking a nap, that's for sure.

Reading | I haven't been reading a lot this past month. I've only read Harley Quinn Volume 1, and still trudging through All The Bright Places by Jennifer Niven. Exams has paused my reading but the book itself is slow-paced and dull. The only thing I'm looking forward to is the books I'll read after. They are We Were Liars by E. Lockhart and The Last Time We Say Goodbye by Cynthia Hand.

+_=_+_=_+

Since exams are almost nearly over, I'll try to post as often as I can. 2-3 posts a week on a good week. I've got a few posts ready and set. Planning and writing them out earlier has grown on me. It's easier and more efficient, as I've come to realize.

So how was May for you? Was it fine, boring or just plain ol' terrible like mine?

  8. N'aww, hoping June would be so much better for you Bash, but it's fantastic that your exams are coming to an end soon. And yes to Mad Max! May (ha!) was a pretty life changing month for me and I'm still coping with the huge turbulence that has rocked my entire life, but other than that, meh. It could've been better. Haha, have a lovely June!

  13. I thought Pitch Perfect 2 was ok. The storyline was mediocre but then I didn't go for the storyline anyway LOL. A Capella is just awesome! But yeah, LOOOOOVED Max Max. Hands down, it's going to be the best action flick of the year.

You are definitely not the only one who has insecure or bad beauty days- I think they're so chronic in this day and age! Any little thing we may dislike feels amplified when we get on Instagram or Facebook and see gorgeous and carefully curated photos. Don't feel down on yourself! And cheers to a better June!
