I learnt my lesson from my last shopping spree. There is a time to be frugal, and a time to shop. If you may never go to a nice store for another year, then perhaps you should splurge a bit more for those cute shoes and form-fitting jeans.
With that in mind, I'm incredible happy with the pieces I got from Uniqlo and H&M. A month ago, I made a Weekend Wishlist here detailing the many basics I lacked. Focusing on what you need, rather than what you want, is the easiest way to spend your money wisely.
So here are the basic staples I got in Singapore!
I'm not ugly, I'm not pretty either. I look fine most days. Most people do. We're absolutely fine on the sliding scale of beauty. When I look in the mirror, my mind floods with reckless thoughts. Some days, I'm the prettiest girl in the world. Other days, I'm a hideous troll. Most days, I just make stupid faces to make myself laugh.
Yet I become a little more insecure with each passing day. I notice spots that shouldn't be there, darker circles from sleepless nights, fat where there wasn't. I use to think I looked alright. Beautiful, even.
So what happened?
There are some things in the world I am good at, but posing is not one of them. I will never learn how to pose for outfits. I swear. My mother and sister keep pointing out my legs are not well-positioned, nor do I look remotely comfortable. Both statements are accurate, shown in Exhibit A.
Last Sunday, Armada Properties and The Collective collaborated to host a creative arts festival. It was to support of local businesses and the arts. Because what Brunei lacks in giant chain stores like H&M, Forever 21, or Target, we make up in local businesses.
Local businesses are a dime a dozen here. Someone is a clothing retailer, someone is a baker, someone is an artist. The easiest way to commercialize is through social media. What Instagram is to Brunei, is what Etsy is to everywhere else. Online shops thrive on social media like Instagram and Facebook to sell their work.
Because of that, many of these vendors don't have physical shops. In the endless ocean of local businesses, it might be difficult to gain attraction. So the Collective Arts Festival stepped in to highlight all these great vendors.
Books, glorious books, wonderful books! I'm so happy, but my wallet isn't. My wallet hates me and wants to kill me now. I understand since I did go a few dollars over budget, but it was for books. For the good of intellectual stimulation.
These are some books I got from Book Depository online and Kinokuniya during my field trip. Not all the books I got are here though. Love Letters To The Dead (reviewed here) since I lent it to a friend and Ms Marvel Volume 1, which hasn't arrived yet.
Here are the books I got, and hopefully will enjoy!
I got 100 followers on bloglovin'! I'm screaming right now, that's incredible! For some people, it's nothing but it means the world to me. It makes me happy to know people actually like my blog and read it. I used to picture myself talking to a brick wall during the early months.
So to celebrate, I'm going to tell you ten things about me. Some weird, some surprising but all unnecessary.
Anyway, here are some facts about me!

I've been reading a lot of blog posts in April, and many have caught my fancy. Whether they were sweet or funny, I thought I should link to them and show their great posts with you!
So anyway, here are some wonderful links from some wonderful people.
Did you know I have cats? Jon Snow and Ygritte. Yes, they're named after Game of Thrones characters because I got to name them. And they reminded me of the bold Jon Snow and fiery Ygritte from the North.
Just two days ago, Ygritte surprised us by giving birth. You should have seen us freak out and run around the house. What are we suppose to do? We've never had a cat before, much less one that gave birth. Luckily, Ygritte did it herself and three beautiful kittens popped out. They are so tiny, and so fragile. We're calling them George, Fitz and Spaz.
Anyway, my As Levels are just around the corner, beginning on 5th May and ending on 8th June. While I'm feeling only moderately anxious, stress levels and hair fall is increasing at a rapid rate. In all, I'm nervous, restless and a little scared. I know I shouldn't be, but still. Exam Month brings wild emotions that you can't quite shake off.
So during this month of May, I decided to limit my posts to twice a week. Every Tuesday and Friday. I've experimented with this last April to mild success. I don't enjoy forcing myself to limitations but I must for the sake of my results. I've prepared a few posts ahead, and a few guest bloggers will be posting here while I'm busy crying over papers. I'm excited for you to read them!
Hopefully, I'll still be able to check out and comment on all your wonderful blogs, but I might be slower and a little late to the party. For that, I'm so sorry. I love reading and commenting but I fear it would take too much of precious study time. Like this post.
So this is me, saying I hope you're having a wonderful day, and good luck for anything that comes your way!
I haven't updated my blog in a week. There was a time in my life that once a week was considered an achievement but now I feel terrible. I shouldn't be too hard on myself though, I just got back from Singapore last night at midnight. My legs aching and my brain exhausted, I had little time to blog. As soon as I fell into my bed, the sandman struck and nothing else mattered.
Here is what I've been doing in April lately!
