Haul | February Books

Thursday, 26 February 2015

I'm incredibly happy about the number of books I've read so far. Though it's just seven to nine books so far, I love that I have been slowly reconnecting with my inner bookworm. One of my regrets last year and the year-before was that I didn't read enough books. My focus was on other things, thus I neglected reading and writing.

I want this year to change that and I think it's going well. To celebrate, I got a few books this month that I intend to read soon. Four books may not seem like much but buying books are expensive for a self-employed (jobless) teenager. #GIRLBOSS itself was $45. Excuse me while I wipe my tears with a receipt.

So anyway, here are the books!

Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz | I know little to nothing about this book. I do know that this book is critically acclaimed, friends and booktubers alike have recommended it and I trust their judgement. I want to be kept in the dark with this book, but I would love to know if it's worth the praise.

Still Alice by Lisa Genova | This book is the only one in the pile that can claim to be Oscar-Winning owing to Julianne Moore's win for her role as titular Alice. That's what you get when you play a woman diagnosed with Alzheimer's. I intend to watch the movie after I read the book, it's the only acceptable way.

To All The Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny HanThe protagonist writes letters to all the boy she loved before. Fitting, yes? I wasn't interested until Yulin Kuang made a fantastic short using an excerpt from this book.  The short intrigued me so I picked it up. My sister has read it, claiming it was good and unique. So I will be reading it hopefully soon and give my thoughts.

#GIRLBOSS by Sophia Amoruso | It seems every female blogger has this book (usually Kindle edition), and I can see why. As of writing, I am currently reading this in all its honesty and exuberance. I picked up this book, knowing that it was about the founder of Nasty Gal and her tips on business while being a young woman in the new age. She inspires me to be a #GIRLBOSS.

Have you read or even heard any of these books? Any thoughts one them? Please, I'd love to know! For now, I'll be snuggling up on the couch and learning how to be a #GIRLBOSS

  8. Books are quite expensive. I like to get them from the library when I can to save money, especially if it turns out I don't like the book. I haven't read these one yet, but they look interesting!

    1. I love borrowing books from my friends and the library, but at the same time, I feel like owning a book reminds you of how it good (or bad it was) and actually remember reading it! (There are way too many times I forgot that I read a book, hahaha)

  17. I read Still Alice years ago and absolutely loved it! It's crazy that it's just now getting popular with its film adaptation. I'm not complaining though because it's definitely WORTH it!
